“Potential of Electricity Generation from Biomass in Vietnam”

Vietnam is an agricultural country in the tropic, where biomass is potential for electricity generation to reduce CO2 emissions effectively. However, in the plan for electricity generation outlined by Vietnamese Government, biomass accounts only 1% and 2% by 2030 and 2045, respectively. This research highlights that sorghum, rice straw, rice hull, wood chips and pellets are potential sources for electricity generation in Vietnam and export to Japan (3.3 and 3.5 million tons by 2045, respectively). There are 19 and 45 electricity generation from coal having CFB (Circulating Fluidized Bed) and PC (Pulverized Coal) combustions, respectively. It is expected that the mixture of biomass with coal in the available CFB and PC combustions and the newly built biomass combustions may provide 10,000 MW, which may contribute to approximately 20% CO2 in Vietnam by 2045. However, Vietnamese Government should clarify its policies to strengthen the production of biomass materials as well as adjust the FIT price for electricity generation from biomass to achieve the mentioned above goals.

“Development of 1,3-butadiene production process from lignin by simulation and experiments”

he 1,3-butadiene production process from lignin has been developed through simulations and experiments.
Through simulations, 1) the most promising process, 2) the technical issue,and 3) target values of technical issues were clarified.Through experiments, the catalytic performance for zeolite employedin n-butene synthesis from dimethyl ether as the technical issue has been improved.
